Publications

A journal is produced annually which contains news and information regarding Dohne Merinos.

Dohne Merino News is published twice a year.

Summaries of the results achieved in Sire Reference Schemes, listing the breeding values of sires and young rams and the genetic trends in each Sire Reference Scheme are produced annually.

Courses

Regular courses dealing with scientific breeding and selection methods and management for effective performance testing have been a feature of Dohne breeding ever since the Society was formed. The attendance of the main short course offered by the Society is a prerequisite to qualify as a Dohne Merino Stud Breeder. Due to a growing demand the Society developed special courses for Agricultural students at schools, colleges and universities, as well as for commercial woolled sheep farmers.

These courses embody the important interaction between economic and biological aspects of sheep breeding - a concept seldom dealt with in other courses.
